Before reading this book you be critical of this almost ninety years it's there ready to drag me away with his pen (now the keyboard) and his spirit as a kid.
If you are between the hands, "the notebook" Saramago's the idea you have, this Iberian (whether you've already read something of his or not) is a revolutionary of the old days now that his wisdom will introduce you to his ideas with accuracy, by means of a book heavy with many ideas and phrases from the infinite, but smooth and pleasing to the imagination of a skilled writer of both prose and poetry, both the real and the fantastic.
Nothing could be more wrong.
All those who read the book in Italian will be pleased, but above all the great help, to find a preface by Umberto Eco which he called "an unrepentant, irritated and tender" his introductory words. With this titoletto Eco, who knows whether consciously or unconsciously, gave us a very good key to understanding Saramago, or rather his writings.
Saramago, in my opinion, in novels always presents his characters with astonishing frankness to the point of highlighting the contradictions, all facets of the psyche and the psyche-in, until you get the amazing
Men duplicate and paint the society, politics and personalities such as micro-mega oxymorons. The collection of post on his blog "The Notebook" is no exception to this Saramago oxymoron.
